ClipKeeper FAQ
Everything you need to know about ClipKeeper - the Chrome extension for backing up family sports clips and full-game videos you already have access to. For use with GameChanger®.
What is ClipKeeper?
ClipKeeper is a Chrome extension that turns your kid's games into a video library you actually own. See a play worth keeping on GameChanger? One click drops it onto your computer with a clean, sensible file name, yours for good. A youth sports parent built it, because watching the highlights live is great, but having them forever is better.
Is ClipKeeper safe?
Totally safe, and honestly kind of boring about it. ClipKeeper only saves videos you can already watch on your own account, and your videos never leave your computer. Nothing gets uploaded, there's no account to create with us, and it lives on the Chrome Web Store, so you're adding a reviewed extension, not some random file off the internet.
Is ClipKeeper for use with GameChanger®?
Yep, that's its whole job. ClipKeeper works right alongside GameChanger® on web.gc.com in desktop Chrome. Pull up your team's videos and little save buttons show up right on the clips and full games you can already watch. No setup, no fiddling. One thing to be clear on: ClipKeeper is its own independent thing, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by GameChanger.
Can I download full game videos or just clips?
Both. Grab a single highlight, or back up the whole game from first pitch to final out. Full game backup is a Pro thing and saves as one tidy MP4, and saving individual clips is open to everyone.
What's the difference between clips and full game videos?
Clips are the short stuff, the diving catch, the three pointer, the strikeout to end the inning, usually somewhere between 9 seconds and a minute. A full game video is the entire recording start to finish, which means it's a big file (often 1 to 5 GB) and always saves as MP4. Plan your hard drive accordingly.
What file format are the downloads?
Full games come down as MP4. Clips are MP4 or .ts, depending on how GameChanger encoded the original. Land on a .ts file and wonder what it is? No worries, it plays in VLC, Windows Media Player, and basically every modern player, and if you'd rather have MP4, free tools like VLC or HandBrake convert it in about two clicks.
Is this legal?
ClipKeeper does one thing: it helps you keep personal copies of your own family's sports videos, the ones you're already paying to watch. We're parents, not lawyers, so this isn't legal advice. If your league or team has its own rules about video, give those a look first.
Do I need an account?
Two things, really. You'll need a GameChanger account, and since GameChanger tucks highlight clips and full game video behind its paid Premium plan, that account needs an active Premium subscription to see them at all. ClipKeeper picks up from there: it saves the videos you can already play, it doesn't unlock anything you can't already see, and it's definitely not a shortcut around paying GameChanger.
What if the supported website changes?
Then we get to work. GameChanger tweaks their site now and then, and when they do, we patch ClipKeeper to keep up. If a save button ever vanishes on you, email support@getclipkeeper.com and we'll be on it fast.
How do I get support?
Email support@getclipkeeper.com. A real human reads every message, specifically the parent who built the thing. Pro users jump the line with faster replies.
